Application and Information

Join the Honor Guard

Interested in joining the Smilin' Happy Scouts at Mackinac ?  We invite all Michigan Scouts to apply for this classic project.   In 2024  we will be a male only contingent.  Troop 127 is currently the only co-ed Scouts BSA Contingent but if we hear of others we will share!  There are changes coming to the scout barracks after the 2024 season that will much better accommodate mixed gender contingents and we will see opportunities for female scouts continue to grow.

Application

Our week for 2024 is July 20-27, 2024 .  We accept scouts from all over the State of Michigan!  If you are willing to travel to Lansing for our MANDATORY practices and campout, you are welcome from anywhere in the Great State of Michigan!

Camp Fees:

The base fee for the camp is UNCHANGED at $275.  However, there is now a $13 fee assessed by the Michigan Crossroads Council to administer our licensing and cover the cost of our on-site visit.  New scouts will also need a uniform kit consisting of patches, a neckerchief,  and a name tag.  In addition a red "coaches" windbreaker jacket is needed.  Pricing will be available in our online payment page and in mailings to parents once it is set for 2024.

Practices:
We will hold two Saturday practices, usually from 10:00 am- 2:00 PM as well as a weekend training campout.   We also attempt to avoid big  sports finals weekends and Scouts BSA events to the best of our abilities
Saturday practices are at Delta Waverly Presbyterian Church.

Upon Acceptance

All scouts must submit the Scouts BSA Annual Health & Medical forms as soon as possible following acceptance.

All Scouts and Adult Leaders accepted to the Honor Guard must have a current BSA Annual Health and Medical form - Parts A, B, & C.  Make sure you take this along when you get your yearly physical.  Please note, BSA Health Forms are good for one year only.  Plan carefully to make sure your form is valid the entire time we are on the Island.

Each day begins with a uniform inspection.  Refer to the Boy Scout Uniform Inspection Sheet to make sure your patches are in the right spot.
